FREE MONEY AVAILABLE….Lewes to win Conference South

Last year I gave some of you my top Football tip of the season as Gretna to win Scottish League 2 at 13/8 and those that followed my advice are now living a life of comfortable luxury. This year I am asking you to join me on a journey down to Nationwide Conference South and pile your cash on Lewes at 4/1 (Stan James & Sky Bet) in order to pay for your 2007 Summer vacation.

The Rooks (as we will now call them) play at The Dripping Pan, which is a good enough reason in it’s own right to bet on them. But also they have strengthened a squad which finished 4th last term with 6 players who were playing at Conference level or higher last season.  A 2-0 friendly victory over QPR bodes well and they kick off their season tomorrow away at Salisbury.  This means you have till 3.00pm on Saturday to get your bet on. With their ground name you also get to say to your bookmaker “I’m putting my money down the Pan” and chuckle to yourself!!

One person who would be having a bit of a gamble would be Anne of Cleves, were she and Ladbrokes around simultaneously. The reason for this is that Henry VIII gave her a house in Lewes as part of the divorce settlement, the reason for the split was Henry thought she looked like a horse. Anne had the last laugh though by being one of only two of his wives to outlive him, the other was Katherine Parr.

No doubt if my Lewes bet fails to come up shouts of “off with his head” will be heard on this forum!!!

The Flander Mare they called her on account of her equine looks, although I don’t think she looks too shabby in this picture – which is exactly what Henry VIII thought and so married her. Unbeknownst to him was that it was a slightly flaterring picture and she actually looked remarkably like this

how do you pronounce VIII by the way – is it Veeeee?
